Job Summary

Uses professional financial services concepts. Applies organization policies and procedures to resolve a variety of moderately complicated issues. Works on financial services problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

This position has wide-ranging responsibilities to provide professional financial services to faculty, staff, and students in the Department of Radiology & Biomedical imaging.

Responsible for the day-to-day review of travel and expense claims for eligibility, and the interpretation and application of the university's travel and hospitality policies.
Plays a key role in the development and delivery of training and assists in the implementation and communication of any functional changes to expense reimbursement and purchasing systems or procedures.


In addition, the position handles recharge billing processes, including sending statements, preparing recharge journals, and managing internal and external billing. The role also performs monthly reconciliations of recharge DEPT IDs, working closely with the recharge team to resolve any reconciliation and billing issues.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $64,700 - $101,200 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The UCSF Department of Radiology Imaging IT team architects, implements, and manages the computer systems and networks needed to support more than 700,000 imaging studies annually. Our team manages the full stack from network to application and end user support. The team provide Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm support including evening and weekend call to support the Medical Center needs.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in administrative analysis or operations research (preferred in an academic health sciences institution such as UCSF).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience using MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ability to ensure that all communications, reports, and spreadsheets look professional. Ability to manipulate basic Excel spreadsheets to create and maintain tracking systems; ability to create, revise and update Word documents and Powerpoint slides.
  • Comfort and facility with financial data and analysis of financial information. Attention to detail and facility with documentation that must tie out to source reports and documents.
  • Ability to manage/prioritize multiple tasks; ability to meet deadlines and follow through on assigned duties in an independent manner; ability to work well under pressure; ability to maintain a service-oriented approach.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills; ability to interact and communicate with high level administrators, faculty, trainees, and members of the public with tact, diplomacy and discretion; high level of interpersonal/human relations skills. Ability to exercise discretion, working in an environment which involves handling confidential, highly sensitive and potentially distressing situation/matters with respect and good judgment. Comfortable with developing department-wide initiatives or precedents.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend, summarize, and relate a wide variety of technical and lay material; and write memoranda, correspondence, and reports and produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper English sentence construction, punctuation and grammar. Demonstrated ability to communicate financial information to a lay audience.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, Vlookup, formulas)
  • Experience at UCSF, in an academic medical center, or in a similar environment
  • Proficiency with university business systems such as MyExpense, MyReports, and BearBuy to research and reconcile expenses and place orders, contract for services, obtain reimbursement for travel, entertainment and other expenses. Knowledge of University accounting policies.
