Engineering Intern

We are seeking an energetic, goal
driven intern to join our growing organization. This position is for an Engineering Intern with a strong interest in
learning about manufacturing methods, statistical process control (SPC),
conduct technical studies, and develop problem solving / root-cause analysis
skills. This is a technical role in a
manufacturing and product development environment, offering a career path to
full time employment as a Manufacturing Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Quality Engineer,
or Project Engineer.

Job Summary

Responsibilities
(varies based on career path assigned)

  • Collect data and specification requirements, conduct time studies, perform, prepare and present proposals for manufacturing process improvements or improved part flow.
  • Collect and assess results of part flow and yield and perform root cause analysis to understand and correct non-conformities.
  • Perform basic project management activities to track and manage technical projects with the potential to lead small teams to execute specific tasks critical to completion of larger commercial aircraft programs.
  • Assist in the development and iteration of manufacturing process plans to build complex parts that meet specific requirements; GD&T tolerances, pneumatic limits, thermal schedules, chemical control bands, and other required specifications

Skills & Qualifications

Qualifications

Minimum
Qualification

  • Graduate or student pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related Engineering field
  • Stronganalytical/data mining skills
  • Comfortable gathering data and creating professional documents, spreadsheets and presentations

Preferred
Qualification

  • Basic Knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering and Time Study processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Perfunctory knowledge of engineering modeling (Ansys, Solidworks Simulation)
  • Exposure to basic CAD systems
  • Experience and/or interest in Avionics

Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required

  • Must have good finger dexterity - computer data entry.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly
  • Travel required, up to 20%
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands/arms, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Must be able to occasionally move and/or lift from 1 - 50 pounds
  • Working conditions are:50% office environment, 50% manufacturing environment
  • Noise level is moderate in office environment
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold and extreme heat
  • Hearing protection must be worn in designated manufacturing areas
  • Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas
  • Safety Footwear shall be in accordance with the following: ASTM standard F2413-05 with minimum impact resistance, compression resistance and metatarsal designation ratings of 75 foot pounds (i.e. ASTM F2413-05 I/75 C/75 Mt/75), which are viewable on the inside tag of footwear
