How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As an IT Project Manager, you will prioritize and deliver key initiatives for SPX providing effective project oversight and project reviews to affect program success. Projects are typically large in scale, high risk, and span organizational and national boundaries including multiple business units and multiple service partners/vendors.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:




  1. Project Delivery






  • Manage multiple projects throughout various stages of the project life cycle, and collaborate with IT, Business, and Vendor resources to deliver expected outcomes





  • Institute appropriate Steering and Operational Governance, and conduct project phase stage-gate reviews with Project Management Office (PMO)





  • Provide leadership to diagnose and overcome barriers to team/project progress, implementing mitigation strategies and contingency plans





  • Resolve internal and external team conflicts to ensure adherence to project schedule and budget





  • Identify project uncertainties, alternative resource plans, scope changes, and other risks for both the client and the Company





  • Prepare an overall (integrated) project management plan in conjunction with the Project Sponsor/Customer and report on deliverables, outputs, and progress against this plan





  • Manage project scope to ensure that requirements are analyzed, documented, and agreed upon and that the impact of any change is formally assessed, evaluated, and approved





  • Provide input to the Project Charter and secure Sponsor sign-off, prepare Project Checklist and Compliance Questionnaire





  • Organize and lead the project team to achieve the project objectives, ensuring that team roles, responsibilities, and expectations are understood and fulfilled





  • Ensure the collection, generation, distribution, storage, retrieval, and timely distribution of project information to all stakeholders and project team members





  • Monitor and control project risks, implementing mechanisms to identify and analyze them as well as plan responses to them





  • Identify people, groups or organizations impacting or impacted by the project and develop strategies for engaging and communicating with them to meet their needs and expectations





  • Contribute to the continued improvement of PMO standards of performance, striving for project execution excellence







  1. Planning






  • Assist IT Leadership with scoping and estimating assigned projects





  • Determine required resources for assigned project





  • Assess, document, communicate, and manage risk for the engagement





  • Maintain program documentation and updates; analyze lessons learned and share with the Project Management Office for utilization on future projects







  1. Quality, Time & Cost






  • Define policies, procedures, and documentation to create, manage, and control the project schedule





  • Assist in the development of the project cost baseline and measure progress and completion forecasts against it, ensuring that variances are reported and approved as necessary





  • Ensure communications, both written and verbal, are timely, and unambiguous





  • Liaise with other parts of the business to ensure they are aligned with the IT strategy





  • Work with the business community to ensure all issues are resolved as quickly as possible







  1. Support






  • Support fellow IT colleagues to resolve technical problems





  • Work closely with management to identify and enable change in the business





  • Facilitate and support project implementations worldwide within SPX





  • Support the Company in identifying how IT can improve the business





  • Provide relevant IT support in implementing SPX's Strategic Plan and budget





What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience




  • IT experience





  • 5 years of experience managing projects



  • Familiarity with change management and its effect on both organizations and individuals



  • An understanding of how a complex business operates, including common interactions between departments



  • Project Management e.g., Prince 2, APM or PMP




Knowledge




  • Knowledge of ERP processes and functions



  • Knowledge of CRM processes and functions



  • Conversant with the concepts of project management including associated tools and techniques




Skills




  • Planning; identifying the activities, resources, and skills to deliver a successful plan





  • Organizing; team organizing along with the associated materials required to provide a successful outcome





  • Leading; motivating, guiding, and encouraging teams through coaching and problem-solving





  • Communication; be able to communicate both written and verbally at all levels within the company





  • Controlling; continually check results against goals and take corrective action as necessary to make sure the plan remains on track




Abilities




  • Great written and oral communication
