Facilities Maintenance Technician

Wednesday - Saturday, 2p.m. to 12a.m.

Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing preventative, reactive, and emergency maintenance to ensure all on-campus facilities are maintained safely and effectively.

Responsibilities:

1. Adds value as a key member of the facilities maintenance team; understands regulatory compliance, maintenance strategies, and excellent customer service.

2. Works in coordination with the Facilities Maintenance team to serve our customers at the hospital campus.

3. Completes and appropriately documents all work assigned to the Facilities Maintenance crew.

4. Supports the Facilities Maintenance Operations Manager, Safety Team, and Facilities Director.

5. Provides backup coverage to other Facilities Maintenance Technicians as needed.

6. Updates staff and management when necessary.

7. Communicates engineering/maintenance issues to both internal and external hospital departments and contacts.

8. Performs preventive and breakdown maintenance.

9. Conducts assigned Environment of Care inspections and routine regulatory physical checks, such as exit/emergency light inspections, fire extinguisher inspections, and generator runs.

10. Participates in ongoing training and education as required and assigned.

11. Follows and enforces Joint Commission and CMS regulations.

12. Is available for emergency on-call maintenance when needed.

13. Performs other duties as required.

Other information:

Technical Expertise

1. General commercial building maintenance.

2. General Trades:

* Light Carpentry, Finishing, Painting, Door Hardware, Locks/Keying, Signage.

3. Electrical systems:

* Lockout/Tag Out and Wiring Diagrams.

* 120/208 Volt and 277/480 Volt.

4. Plumbing systems:

* Assemble, install, or repair pipes, fittings, or fixtures of heating, water, or drainage systems according to specification and applicable codes.

5. Steam systems (up to 125#).

6. Commercial HVAC and refrigeration:

7. Compressors, motors, pumps, fans, and controls.

8. Refrigerant recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, and service gauges.

9. Troubleshooting a wide variety of mechanical equipment.

10. Building Automation (BAS) experience.

11. Evaluating emergency situations and determining a safe and appropriate solution to issues as they arise.

12. Building codes, NFPA, and life safety regulations.

13. Joint Commission and CMS regulatory compliance.

14. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

15. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

16. Strong ability to work both independently and as a valued team member.

17. Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or similar software. Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is desirable.

Education and Experience

1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

2. Years of relevant experience: Minimum of 2 years is preferred, but entry-level candidates will be considered.

    3. Valid driver's license is required.
