Position Summary |
Knowledge - Professional:
- Exhibit thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of professional pharmacy in the process of filling prescriptions
- Exhibit a thorough knowledge of trends, current technology and standards of pharmacy practice in the process of filling prescriptions
- Use the knowledge of disease states and pathophysiology as it relates to pharmacology and medication use in filling prescriptions and counseling patients.
- use correct techniques, practices and procedures in filling and dispensing medications.
Assessment and Decision Making:
- Assesses pharmaceutical needs of patient/client with complex, acute and chronic medical problems based on personal observation and interview as well as documentation prepared by others.
- Montiors for and resolves adverse drug reactions.
- Provides clinical consultation to SHS medical staff on patient/clients with complex, acute and chronic medical problems.
- Monitors data quality and trains others in data entry and database management
Coordination-Work:
- Establish and implement system for entering patient data into QS1 prescription processing system, monitoring for drug interactions, and counseling patients.
- Supervise work of pharmacy technicians
- Order and check-in medications, maintain order entry system, and inventory/stock levels for all medications.
Communication and Instruction:
- Provides medication information including drug therapy selection, pharmacokinetics and pharmacology to patients, SHS medical staff and the UNCG Community.
- Ensures that all pharmacy processes comply with state and federal laws, rules and regulations, and UNCG SHS policies and practices.
- Provides direction and advice to patients, students, technicians, and UNCG medial staff.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. degree
- Active Pharmacy License in the state of North Carolina
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties List
- Immunization Certification through an accredited organization (i.e. APhA)
- Submission of required information/documents to your state PMP administrator to register for PMP access.
- No pending felony charges or convictions for criminal offenses involving controlled substances
- Maintains active BLS or ACLS certification
