Job Summary:

Nature of Work

Our mission is to identify therapeutically targetable immunologic mechanisms in human uveitis. We have a biorepository of samples from 1500 patients. We apply bioinformatic and machine learning algorithms to integrate clinical phenotyping, flow cytometry and deep transcriptional profiling of ocular and peripheral blood immune cells, and genetic analysis. We use patient-derived recombinant antibodies to identify antigen targets of ocular inflammation. We also utilize in vitro and in vivo models to study ocular immune responses.

The successful postdoctoral fellow will lead specific research projects aimed at: (1) management and expansion of patient sample biorepository including IRB work, contracts, materials and data transfer agreements and interfacing with clinicians, epidemiologists and clinical trials staff, (2) identification of novel therapeutic targets through bioinformatic analysis of clinical and molecular data. Fellos will also significantly contribute to characterization of antigen targets of ocular B cell responses, provide mentorship to students and staff and collaborate on grant and manuscript preparation.

We seek motivated and independent scientists willing to contribute their expertise and knowledge. The position will involve interacting with patients and access to clinical information and biologic specimens. The main responsibilities include organization and oversight of repository expansion, bioinformatic analysis, immunophenotyping using flow cytometry, single-cell RNA-sequencing and similar techniques. Other duties include publishing and communicating research results in both oral and written formats and assisting with the training and mentoring of students and technicians.
