Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Student Disability Center (SDC) Executive Director. Serves as back-up to the Executive Director and Associate Director, exercises sound judgement and applies appropriate actions as defined by University of California and departmental policies and procedures. Serves as a campus expert and consultation resource regarding best practices and compliance as related to SDC services and student access. Supervises SDC Specialists and Assistive Technology staff. Manage faculty and student inquiries and concerns. Carries a half-time caseload of students with varied disabilities; independently evaluates student accommodation requests in accordance with departmental/UC policy and federal/state law to determine, approve, and coordinate reasonable and appropriate academic accommodations, adjustments, and services. Participates as an active member of various campus-wide committees as assigned and the SDC Specialists' team; represents SDC and delivers outreach programs to students, families, faculty, administration, and staff; assists with budget development; other projects as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in educational psychology, cognitive/learning disabilities, special education, counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or other field related to the determination and provision of academic accommodations; experience in providing accommodation services to post-secondary students with disabilities; or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Extensive experience maintaining confidential medical, psychological and educational records and communications.
- One year supervisory experience. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills (e.g., identify issues, make recommendations for improvement and devise new procedures and work methods). Initiative and ability to work independently using sound judgement.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of state/federal requirements related to accommodation of higher education students.
- Skill to handle conict in a respectful manner. Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact and work effectively with individuals from diverse social and cultural backgrounds (students, faculty, staff, family, prospective students, and outside experts/agencies).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in educational psychology, cognitive/learning disabilities, special education, counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or field related to the determination and provision of academic accommodation; experience in providing services to post-secondary students with disabilities; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Five years of extensive experience and demonstrated success determining, authorizing and coordinating academic accommodation services according to state/federal requirements for accommodating college disabled students at the post-secondary level including maintaining confidential medical, psychological and educational records and communications.
- Five years prior supervisory experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact and work effectively with individuals from diverse social and cultural, backgrounds (students, faculty, staff, family, prospective students, and outside experts/agencies).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills (e.g., identify issues, make recommendations for improvement and devise new procedures and work methods).
- Initiative and ability to work independently using sound judgement.
- Prior experience working with Graduate and Professional School students.

Department Overview The Student Disability Center (SDC) oversees the provision of academic accommodations, adjustments, and services for approximately 4,100 disabled students to facilitate equal access to the University's educational programs. Through an interactive process, students receive specialized academic support services and adjustments, disability management counseling, academic advising specific to disability impact, and the provision of accessible/assistive technology options and training, and other resources as appropriate.
