SUMMARY

This position is responsible for planning and conducting work which requires judgement and independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Also devises new approaches to problems encountered. Requires sufficient professional experience to ensure competence as a fully trained worker.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrates strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety.
  • Participates in the PACE culture of safety.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for EPA, LDEQ and other related regulations
  • Promote and support Westlake's Continuous Improvement Process activities as part of the department team.
  • Use statistical Process Control in the continuous improvement effort.
  • Maintain working knowledge of overall plant operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of complete process
  • Assist in troubleshooting and solving problems of large systems and processes
  • Successfully manage small teams to achieve objectives
  • Maintain expert knowledge of regulations and permit requirements in environmental area of specialty - Air Compliance
  • Coordinate site activities related to this area to include
    • Permitting and related activities
    • Regulatory review, planning and implementation
    • Regulatory compliance, record keeping and reporting
    • Regulatory agency interface
    • Prepare Regulatory Reports to governmental agencies
    • Interpret environmental regulations as they apply to the processes of responsibility
    • Assist in implementation of environmental performance improvement efforts
  • Participate in industry organization activities

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Strong facilitation, interpersonal and computer skills, with a good working knowledge of related databases and applications, and excellent verbal and written communication abilities; Excellent organizational skills
  • Capable of managing multiple projects
  • Exhibits positivity, passion, integrity and accountability
  • Ability to make sound decisions based upon technical information
  • Able to work in a team-oriented environment
