The CNS Office of Faculty Affairs provides oversight on faculty affairs in collaboration with the departments, the Dean, and the Provost's Office in order to support faculty career paths, professional development, and well-being.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule after a 6 month probationary period. Must be eligible to work in the US on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.

Purpose

The Faculty Affairs (FA) Coordinator will be a core member of the CNS Dean's Office of FA and support our mission of attracting, retaining, and supporting outstanding faculty who drive excellence in research and education. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Director and work closely with the Associate Dean on critical aspects of faculty affairs, and liaise with key stakeholders, including department leadership, the Dean, and the Provost's Office.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation on processes tied to faculty affairs on UT Box and other relevant platforms. Produce reports or provide data, as requested by College leadership, the Provost's Office or departments, including but not limited to annual and periodic reports and reviews, faculty fellowships, and workload documents.

  • Manage the calendar for the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and schedule meetings for the Office of Faculty Affairs. Manage logistics, budget, and processing of payment vouchers for events and professional development sessions led by CNS Faculty Affairs. Maintain office inventory and order supplies as needed.

  • Serve as Academic HR Executive in Workday for college-wide faculty appointments. Assist in reviewing all faculty personnel documents for the College such as assignments, leave requests, extension requests, outside employment requests, outside agency contracts, and phased retirement contracts. Advise and collaborate with departmental administrative staff. Act as a liaison for departments, Business Services, and other University offices.

  • Evaluate and process faculty requests for course release and different types of leaves, including but not limited to, academic and unpaid time off, course buyouts, modified instructional duties, release time, and sick leave. Evaluate and process requests for probationary extensions and personal circumstances flag.

  • Manage and assist with various aspects of faculty development and awards, such as the Rom Rhome competition, Faculty Travel Grant program, the Faculty Development Leave (FDL) program, and the Faculty Development Awards (FDA) program.

  • Special projects and other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience in an administrative support function. Ability to manage a high volume of work assignments under dynamic circumstances while maintaining accuracy, and discretion in dealing with sensitive issues. Demonstrated effective communication skills, as well as a customer-focused approach to problem-solving. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a higher education institution. Demonstrated knowledge of faculty affairs policies and procedures, and business applications used at the University of Texas at Austin.

Salary Range

$56,000 + depending on qualifications

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
