About the role

The role of the Process Technician / Mixer is to produce finished fill formulas for packaging operation while ensuring safe operations, product quality, on time delivery and the efficiency of processing operation. The Processing Technician / Mixer can perform all functions of the job.

Your responsibilities

  • Follows detailed written methods, instructions, and formulas for mixing, blending, and compounding specific ingredients in precise amounts for the manufacture of consumer and industrial products. Distinguishes between various raw materials by proper labels and physical properties.
  • Prepares and makes ready all materials for manufacturing. Monitors change of temperature, pressure, visual appearance, physical changes, and other significant developments which serve as an indication of process progress. Manages inventory counts of raw materials daily, weekly & monthly. Notifies manager of any problems with supplies, batch or equipment.
  • Performs routine physical or chemical tests necessary for adjustment and provides samples of finished product to Quality Assurance for testing and approval.
  • Maintains working knowledge of all pipelines, connections, valves, storage, and location of all equipment necessary for operation.
  • Operates Forklift to move/store raw materials and assists with receiving bulk raw material deliveries.
  • Maintains clean work areas, cleans manufacturing and storage tanks, all lines, and all other equipment, using steam and various cleaning agents as required.
  • Performs other duties as required by Leader.
  • Follows Quality System, related Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Control Plans, GMP guidelines where required, and current work instructions including safety rules and wearing of required PPE.

The experience we're looking for

  • Able to read and understand email, MSDS and labels and follow applicable safety rules & regulations.
  • Forklift experience required, sit down preferred.
  • Effective communication skills working within a team environment.
  • Computer literacy skills (for email, automated batching, inventory systems, payroll, etc.) and completion of all required production reports.
  • Strives for continuous learning to keep skills up to date as new products & equipment are added.
  • Employees will respond to spills and must be trained to be aware of the dangers the spill presents and how to respond in a safe manner. OSHA specifies several levels of response training necessary for various employees. Commonly referred to as HAZWOPER. This training will be a mandatory part of the position and will be provided.
