Position Overview
The Unckless lab uses a range of genetic, genomic, and molecular technologies to better understand the evolution of immune defense and how different species adapt to immune challenges. This project involves significant work with Drosophila, including experimental infections, next-generation sequencing, analysis, and CRISPR genome editing. The position is funded through a multi-year NSF grant and has an anticipated start date of 1 January 2025 (although this is very flexible).
Job Description 30% - Conduct primary research on the evolution of Drosophila immune defense to infection; including husbandry, infections and CRISPR genome editing
30% - Next generation sequencing and analysis (RNA-seq and genetic mapping studies) 20% - Publish and present research results in venues appropriate to the discipline 20% - Other duties as assigned Position Requirements Work Location: On-site; Haworth Hall, Room 4055, 785 864-1679
