Job Description

The Marketing and Communications Specialist is responsible for the promotion of the library's collection, services, and programs to our university community.

  • Promotion of the library's collection, services, and programs to our university community
  • Create and disseminates promotional material as appropriate
  • Assist in identifying, developing, implementing, and evaluating all marketing and promotional strategies
  • Plan and coordinate events and other library programming
  • Maintain a helpful visual presence at the Service Desk during scheduled hours to assist internal and external library patrons
  • Determine patron eligibility for services; create library cards; create and update patron records; resolve patron record problems
  • Process the loan and return of library materials such as books, DVD's etc.
  • Assist patron in scheduling reservable spaces in the library
  • Performs search operations to assist patrons in finding and requesting materials
  • Direct patrons to the appropriate librarian for research and other assistance
  • Exercise good judgement in the application and interpretation of service desk policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Work with appropriate supervisors to assist student employees when required
  • Promptly reports building and other issues to responsible parties
  • Open and close services desk and/or when required
  • Interlibrary loan materials processing
  • Attend and participates in meetings
  • Serve on appropriate library teams/committees
  • Other special projects as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
Shift

  • Insession: Sunday-Thursday, 11:30am to 8:00pm
  • Intersession: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm (may vary)
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
  • Previous library or marketing and communication experience
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $15.00 hourly.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
