The CCUS Project Manager will report directly to the Head of Midstream CCUS. This role will lead the initial concept definition, framing, and development planning of all CCUS projects. In particular, this role will be accountable for the safe execution and total management of all project details against agreed project KPIs and within approved budgets. This role provides project management leadership for the delivery of all CCUS projects to support EQT's plans to lead the US and region in CCUS, as well as providing broader functional project management leadership across Midstream CCUS projects in relation to the following areas:
- Safety, regulatory, permitting, and environmental assurance
- Scope of work development and success criteria planning
- Governance, project services, project reporting, and execution control
- Risk mitigation and change management
- Project services, project management and execution
- Project assumptions and economics assurance
- Integration of Midstream CCUS projects into EQT core systems
- Senior-level stakeholder relationship management
The CCUS Project Manager's responsibilities include but arenot limited to the following:
- Ensuring strategic fit, business context, and CCUS value drivers are understood and communicated at the start of each project with a focus on Class II enhanced recovery and Class VI storage wells
- Ensuring safety (personal and process) is addressed in all aspects of work planning, and execution
- Accountable for the development of all CCUS project work scopes within a safety, cost, schedule, and quality framework
- Establishing performance management systems and KPIs are established for CCUS projects, including realistic costs and schedule milestones
- Evaluating and recommend the selection of contractor and specialist firms for CCUS project delivery
- Reporting project progress to the rest of the Midstream leadership (status, cost, schedule, performance)
- Ensuring project learnings are captured and available to be shared in Midstream and across EQT
- Identifying and evaluating project risks and opportunities, leading and managing relevant studies, risk assessments, and financial analysis
- Ensuring all CCUS projects are integrated into EQT core systems
- Identifying and implementing initiatives to improve efficiencies and performance
- Ensure internal and external stakeholders are updated and aligned as required
- Ensuring appropriate funding approvals and cost-control mechanisms are in place
- Contribute to broader project management and project control efforts as necessary to standardize across Midstream projects
Required/ Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering, geosciences, or other related field
- Master's degree preferred
- PMP certification preferred
- Leadership of complex CCUS projects
- At least 15 years' experience in the energy industry, with at least 5 years' experience in subsurface and leading CCUS projects
- Demonstrated record of leadership, integration, and effective management in a matrixed organization
- Track record of analyzing all aspects of CCUS projects, including relevant technical, financial, contractual, legal, and operational topics
- Must have well-developed oral and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Must be a problem solver with the ability to find solutions quickly and deal with ambiguous data
- Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision and/or direction
- Must be capable of making difficult decisions, e.g. stopping the project mid-stage if obviously not viable
- Must be agile and flexible
- Exposure to financial and accounting systems, e.g. SAP, Vantagepoint, and/ or Salesforce
Leadership / Discipline Competencies:
- Leadership of teams through complex projects with an immature project definition and uncertainty
- Integration of multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to build and manage a cross-functional team, including SMEs, consultants and contractors
- Communicates regulatory, technical, and project performance in a clear, concise, and relevant manner to assist and guide decision-makers
- Well-engrained project management capabilities with an ability to frame projects correctly and apply fit-for-purpose project management techniques and processes, including an ability to manage detailed schedules, budgets, cash flow, VOWD, and forecasts
- Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, landowners and EPC contractors
- Ability to lead relevant permitting, subsurface, drilling, geoscience, land management, legal, regulatory compliance, and environmental assessments
- Ability to develop relevant interpretation models and plan long-term data and asset assessments
- Ability to assess subsurface, drilling, regulatory, financial, and operational risks and implement appropriate mitigations
Preferred Location:
- The role will be a member of EQT's Midstream team based remotely, ideally located in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, or Texas.
