Position Objective: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytically skilled Sr Manager of Midstream Accounting to lead and oversee the midstream revenue accounting team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the recording and billing associated with EQT's gathering, transmission and storage businesses, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing in-depth data analysis to support management reporting. In addition, this role will heavily contribute to accounting and integration activities related to strategic transactions in the midstream space. This role will be a key contributor to the preparation of quarterly and annual FERC filings for regulated assets. The role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver insightful analysis and ensure adherence to revenue recognition requirements, various contractual requirements, financial reporting regulations and internal controls. This is a highly visible role, and strong interpersonal skills are required. This role is fully remote. Responsibilities:
- Oversee key components of month end closing activities to ensure team's responsibilities are being performed accurately and completely
- Perform primary reviews of monthly analyses and journal entries performed by others
- Analyze new contracts for revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606
- Prepare and review financial analysis of monthly revenues and volumetric throughput and evaluate variances from forecast or budget to identify trends or discrepancies on timely basis
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly reporting packages for Joint Venture partners
- Prepare revenue related pages of the quarterly and annual FERC filings
- Compile the non-revenue FERC pages which are prepared by other
- Assists with other key closing and reporting activities, including technical accounting research, review and preparation of disclosures and other information used in EQT's SEC filings, as needed and requested by management
EQT has a track record of acquisitions, dispositions and other strategic transactions requiring technical accounting support. Responsibilities related to transactional activity include:
- Understand and assess the accounting for a wide range of unique transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, asset swaps, etc.
- Evaluate acquired contracts for appropriate ASC 606 Recognition and document the results in an easily digestible memo or other supporting workpaper
- Assist with post transaction evolution to the business including integration of newly acquired assets and business process changes necessitated by the transaction
Continuous Improvement:
- This role must be able to easily adapt to continuous change by identifying process gaps resulting from changing reporting requirements (internal or external) to determine the best workable solution.
- Drive standardization of procedures of direct reports via easily understandable and detailed documentation to improve efficiency of team
- Utilize analytical skills to identify anomalies within financial or operational data and engage with other departments as necessary to determine and implement appropriate corrective measures
- Understand and embraces technology and leverages its importance in driving efficiency and scalability in a cost-efficient manner
Other Responsibilities:
- Assists with financial planning and forecasting
- Engages with tax department to assist in compilation of key information required for completion of tax return
- Compiles financial information for various data requests throughout the year
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to be successful in a remote working environment with time management and employee development
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
- Solid understanding of GAAP technical accounting literature and ability to analyze transactions, identify proper treatment and document analysis
- Ability to analyze data, identify issues and areas with efficiency enhancement opportunities, and present recommended solutions to key decision makers
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Self-starter with experience overseeing projects to ensure timely completion of identified objectives
- Strong skills and genuine desire to coach and develop team members
- Strong data management skills, including the ability to manipulate large data sets with SQL or PowerBI
Required Experience:
- 8+ years of public accounting and/or industry experience
Preferred Experience:
- Prior work experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm preferred
- Prior experience with FERC regulated and/or regulatory accounting
- Prior experience working on complex transactions (e.g. Acquisitions, Divestitures, JV Agreements, etc.) preferred
- Experience with the following software packages is preferred: Microsoft Office, Salesforce, QTIPS, QPTM, Spotfire, PowerBI
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or associated field
- CPA Required
Remote work is being considered for this role excluding the following states: Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, Louisiana, New Jersey, and New York unless willing to relocate.
