DESCRIPTION OF WORK
-
As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, you will be responsible for performing various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the overall operation of the water treatment process. This is a multi-shift operation, with employees working around the clock to ensure that the wastewater treatment process runs smoothly and efficiently. The main goal of the plant is to remove harmful pollutants from the water before it is released back into the environment. In addition, your duties will include removing snow, ice, and debris from all exterior surfaces of the facility property, as well as maintaining grass and landscaping.

- Full-time employment (7.5-hour work day; 37.5-hour work week)
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, rotating weekends and holidays, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours and schedule may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime as operationally necessary
- An employee in this position will be considered an essential employee who will be required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee (commonwealth title) program and certification as a wastewater treatment plant operator for any class and type of plant; or
- Possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator for any class and type of plant.

- You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Formal training in wastewater management
- Experience in the operation of a Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)
- Experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of motors, pumps, compressors, valves, filters, and/or other related WWTP equipment
- Experience in performing sampling/testing of plant influent or effluent for environmental protection
