Position Summary
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Variable Track, Assistant or Associate Maternal Fetal Medicine Professor will care for inpatient and outpatient obstetrics patients and provide administrative, clinical, quality and educational leadership for the obstetrics ultrasound unit.

Responsibilities include:
Clinical: High-risk obstetric care, perinatal consultation, prenatal diagnosis, ultrasound, genetic services, fetal therapy, and perinatal outreach; Division faculty members are engaged participants in the activities of UNC's Collaborative for Maternal and Infant Health (www.mombaby.org), which provides multidisciplinary care coordination for families referred for fetal malformations.

Academic: Actively participate in student and resident teaching and provide subspecialty training for six Maternal Fetal Medicine fellows through its 3-year American Board of Obstetrics & Genecology ( ABOG) approved fellowship program.

Research: Contribute to the division's research mission.

Ultrasound Director Duties include:
* Administrative
* Oversee daily clinical and administrative operations of the ultrasound unit
* Lead/manage/mentor multidisciplinary team of sonographers, nurses, and support staff
* Promote culture of continuous learning and professional development within the ultrasound unit
* Monitor budget and ensure efficient workflow, resource utilization, and cost-effective practices without compromising patient care
* Collaborate across telemedicine/divisions/departments/external stakeholders to improve maternal and fetal health services and ensure seamless service integration
* Advocate for patient-centered care; ensure patients/families are well-informed and supported; address patient concerns/feedback
* Clinical Leadership and Quality
* Provide clinical oversight and direction for all MFM ultrasound services
* Ensure high standards of patient care through developing and implementing protocols and guidelines to ensure evidence-based practice
* Lead Quality improvement initiatives and monitor outcomes to enhance service delivery
* Ensure compliance with all relevant medical standards, regulations, and best practices
* Education and Training
* Oversee training program of new sonographers, travelers, and remote sonographers
* Organize and conduct training sessions, workshops, and seminars for sonographers, physicians, and staff
* Liaison with department trainees
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
MD or DO degree, completed a 4-year ACGME approved OB- GYN residency and completed a 3-year ACGME or ABOG approved fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Board Certified/Board Eligible/Active Candidate in both OB- GYN and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Competence in maternal medicine and prenatal diagnosis, and a commitment to excellence in medical education.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Interest and expertise in prenatal diagnosis, fetal echo, pregnancy remote surveillance, fetal therapy, quality and safety, and reproductive justice
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Some night, weekend and holiday inpatient work is expected, in rotation with other division members.
