The Opportunity

The Center for Behavioral Health Research and Training (CBHRT) in the School of Social Work at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for one 12-month Biostatistician to provide statistical expertise and support for various clinical research projects focused on health and wellness within the College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS). Key responsibilities include contributing to the study design and analytic plans for clinical trials, research projects, and grant proposals, conducting advanced and complex statistical analysis, interpreting research findings, and preparing manuscripts and technical reports. This role requires a strong background in biostatistics, data analysis, and the ability to work collaboratively with researchers from various disciplines, including social work, communication sciences and disorders, health sciences, physical therapy, kinesiology, and athletic training. The position is assigned to the main Orlando campus with a projected start date of Fall 2025.

The School of Social Work is recognized regionally and nationally for the superior quality of its educational offerings and its contributions to clinical social work, health care, scholarship, and service to our community. The school has 34 full-time faculty, 14 staff, numerous adjunct faculty, and over 900 students. We offer a BSW and an MSW program. There are various campus-based and online tracks in the MSW program.

The College of Health Professions and Sciences is home to three schools, one department, and six centers and institutes and is a leader in creating positive community change by building partnerships that transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries. The college is a core member of the UCF Academic Health Sciences Center along with the existing Colleges of Nursing and Medicine. Minimum Qualifications:


  • Ph.D. with 3 years experience in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a similar field.

  • Knowledge of research design, statistical design, analysis, and programming techniques utilized in clinical research.

  • Experience with statistical programming and use of statistical computer packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, Stata, R, Python, JASP).

  • Demonstrated skill in the ability to simultaneously work on multiple research projects and tasks.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Successful track record in securing extramural funding in the role of Biostatistician.

  • Preferred 5+ years' experience in experimental design and statistical support to allied health professionals conducting biomedical, behavioral, and health-related research.

  • Experience with clinical trial protocols.

  • Familiarity with REDCap or similar data management systems.

  • Experience in conducting meta-analyses and systematic reviews.

  • Knowledge of qualitative research methods and mixed-methods approaches.

  • Proficiency in data visualization techniques and software (e.g., BioRender, Tableau, ggplot2).

  • Experience with big data analytics and handling large-scale datasets.

  • Familiarity with health informatics and electronic health record (EHR) data analysis.
