GENERAL:

Primary sourcing organization interface point for assigned Product Line(s). Manages sourcing activities for OEM/Aftermarket programs and purchasing performance by working directly with cross-functional teams as needed. Directly responsible for new product introduction, change management, and cost savings projects. Responsible for managing in collaboration with commodity buyers the purchase process of all productive materials (all commodities) for current and/or new projects. Supports customer pricing and budgeting response teams through the development and approval of material cost models considering appropriate risk and material assumptions. Conducts value analysis in order to develop alternative sources resulting in lower cost items while maintaining quality, service, and price. Works closely with engineering, production planning, financial and other key personnel to ensure that requirements to support corporate objectives are adhered to suppliers. Frequently reports sourcing related activities to the assigned Product Line(s) management.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Works with the Product Teams for assigned Product Line(s) to understand their business needs and continually meet purchasing performance expectations.
  • Supports escalation of purchasing issues for assigned Product Line(s) that could disrupt new program flawless launch activities or current operations metrics.
  • Responsible for tracking and securing on time responses from the Purchasing organization to the assigned Product Line(s) inquiries including: RFQs, RFIs, change management, and overall external supplier's related inquiries.
  • Ensures that cost requirements for the assigned Product Line(s) related programs (OEM, Aftermarket, and change management process) are met. Works with commodity buyers, monitor and report cost targets suppliers' status.
  • Develops sourcing strategies for new parts in agreement with the Product Line engineering team and purchasing commodity buyer(s) (including all commodities).
  • Coordination of new components including prototypes. Supports commodity buyers in identifying and benchmarking suppliers as well as in the completion of the first round of quotes.
  • Ensures that sourcing decisions are approved by Product Line engineering manager and project manager, purchasing team members, supplier quality, and trade compliance based on a total landed cost analysis.
  • Reviews requests for quotations for accuracy and completeness for engineering changes on current programs and forward to suppliers in collaboration with the Purchasing commodity buyers.
  • Investigates cost savings ideas for the assigned Product Line(s) including BOM pricing updates and VA/VE activities.
  • Frequent reporting of Purchasing/ Advance Purchasing related activities to the Product Line teams. Treats all internal team members and external suppliers fairly and equitable
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required up to 15%

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be highly organized. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information and to respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Team player and ability to work under pressure.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering or related experience as demonstrated. Minimum of 1 year of relevant purchasing and/or program management related experience. Automotive purchasing experience required. Language: Primary English/ Spanish encouraged.
