GENERAL PURPOSE

Establish and champion a clear vision for the brand and how it meets its customers.

Align creative efforts for the brand across products, communications and experiences, in all regions and businesses.

Input into product category strategies.

Guide the selection of design and creative partners.

Actively partner with category and product design teams to assure that the brand's products align with brand vision and essence and deliver future business.

Actively partner with interior design and visual merchandising teams to align selling spaces with the brand.

Lead brand's creative teams including art direction and writing; guiding creative work to be brand right.

Ongoing communication of brand visual center, seasonal creative direction and regular creative reviews. Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to grow the brand in all the business units that bring it to market.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Establishes and communicates a clear, ownable and actionable brand vision and essence. Coaches product teams, business partners and broader organization on all brand connected design work to ensure alignment and build brand strength.
  • Owns regular creative direction to product and marketing teams, informing business, marketing and communications strategies.
  • Guides selection of design partners and creative collaborators. Selects or approves design talent or approach for new products.
  • Partners with product design to assure creative content of design briefs aligns with brand.
  • Influences product design execution at key milestones to assure brand alignment.
  • Maintain knowledge of global design talent, both established and emerging, constantly seeking potential partners for the brand.
  • Partners with product leadership to inform product priorities and strategies.
  • Partners with marketing leadership to Inform brand strategies, priorities and campaigns.
  • Act as link between business units, categories, marketing and brand via creative reviews; assure that all creative initiatives are optimally aligned with brand essence.
  • Champions efforts to achieve cohesiveness and consistency of creative work across product design and development, communications, and customer experience.
  • Maintains awareness of trends that broadly influence the contract and residential furnishings industries.
  • Serves as design voice for the brand to field sales, dealers, customers and media.
  • Works collaboratively with general management, commercial leadership, sales, marketing and merchandising teams to define long term product strategy and priorities for the broader MillerKnoll collective of brands and businesses.
  • Partners with Creative Directors and design leaders across the organization to build best practices, clarify unique brand propositions and to build the overall strength of the group.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts or Design or related field; or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • 10+ years of in-depth experience in product design and design management.
  • In-depth understanding of the furnishings industry.
  • Work history across design disciplines including print, digital and experience design.
  • Strong relationship and consensus-building skills necessary to manage projects in a complex matrixed environment. Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and work with all levels in the organization.
  • Expert ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
  • Ability to use a broad business acumen and holistic perspective to see opportunities and risks of potential trade-offs.
  • Demonstrated leadership competence, including the proven ability to effectively focus resources to implement a business strategy, generate excitement and commitment to vision and ability to implement goals that drive innovation and change.
  • Demonstrated outstanding written/verbal communication skills, and a proven capability to present complex concepts in a concise and understandable way to a variety of audiences including the highest level of the organization.

A starting compensation range for this role is $277,900.00 - $360,025.00. Relevant salary considerations will include candidate qualifications and experience, other business/organizational needs and market factors . You may also be eligible to receive a geographic premium, annual discretionary incentive and equity awards which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
