About the Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology

The Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology at MSU Denver offers a selection of undergraduate degrees to fulfill your curiosity and maximize your career opportunities. Environmental Engineering majors study the underlying problems of climate change and how to solve them through innovation. Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology majors explore inventive ways to improve existing technology while experimenting on new and improved ideas. Position summary

The Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology (EAET) at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position effective in the 2025 - 2026 academicyear.Thedepartmentisseekingcandidateswithexpertise,research,andteachinginterest in Environmental Engineering. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to join a vibrant and growing department at the rank of Assistant Professor.

MSU Denver has a robust mentoring program for tenure-track faculty. The candidate will be enrolled in the Roadrunner Faculty Academy during their rst year. This is a year-long course designed to support new faculty navigate faculty life and thrive in teaching, scholarly activity and service.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates may join the university at the rank of Assistant Professor, and there is an expectation that this individual will focus the bulk of their time on teaching and student engagement.

This position will be expected to teach 24 credit hours (or equivalent) per academic year and maintain minimum of 5 office hours per week to include advising and consultation with students. However, the faculty member may choose to buy out some of that teaching time with research funding.

In addition, the position will require being active in engineering professional societies and activities, engaging in professional development, scholarly activities, applying current technical computer language/software and using other technologies in the classroom. Candidates will be expected to teach in the classroom as well as in the laboratory setting. The selected candidate should have the background to be able to teach a range of computer and electrical engineering courses. Full time faculty members are also required to provide service to the department and institution by participating on committees, academic advising, contributing to course and program development, assessments related to accreditation, update course curriculum and contribute to course development.

Required Qualifications

  • Have earned a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering by August 1, 2025.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Indication to contribute to the teaching mission of the university, college, and department
  • Demonstrate strong research interest within the applicant's area(s) of expertise
  • Have proven strong communication skills
  • Commit to support service and diversity initiatives at the university, college, and department levels
  • Evidence or indication of using high impact teaching practices in the classroom
  • Experience with ABET accreditation

Salary for Announcement

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $87,000. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.
