Position: Development Specialist Reports To: ILP Supervisor Beginning Pay Range: $21.00 a hour About DABSJ: D.A. Blodgett - St. John's is a private non-sectarian agency that serves vulnerable children and families from the entire community. Our core objectives are to strengthen families, help children heal from abuse and neglect, provide homes and help kids thrive. About this Opportunity: The Independent Living Development Specialist (ILDS) is responsible for providing direct care and supervision to youth and young adults served by the Agency in the ILP program. The dimensions of this "development" responsibility are quite broad. At times, the ILDS acts in a parental role, meeting the basic needs of youth. The ILDS ensures that each child is healthy and safe, makes sure that each is properly clothed and fed and works to maintain a clean and orderly living space. Included in the parental role are the responsibilities to give praise, affection and encouragement to youth and respond appropriately to challenging behaviors when necessary. Also, while this role should ensure the health and safety of the youth, since these youth are emerging adults, the ILDS will normally achieve these goals through praise, encouragement, and direction. Would you like to help us accomplish our mission as a Development Specialist? Our ideal candidate will have High School Diploma or GED required by the state licensing authority. Agency prefers a bachelor's degree, or near completion, in a field related to the helping professions. Experience working with children. Good written communication skills. Valid driver's license, adequate insurance with a car available at all times. Offered benefits and more:
