Engineer - Day Ahead & FTR Application Support

How you will make an impact:

This position is responsible for providing functional and technical expertise to projects and assignments pertaining to critical Business units in the organization. This role requires that the candidate bring both engineering and IT perspective to the services and state of the art solutions provided by the department.

• Planning, coordinating, and performing complex technical assignments related to software applications in support of the Day Ahead Market Admin, FTR/ARR Market, Forecasting, Markets Monitoring and Outage Coordination groups
• Analyzing, designing, programming, troubleshooting, recommending solutions and implementing fixes associated with Market System applications
• 24 x7 support for Day Ahead and FTR Market applications as needed
• Assisting in the development of RFPs and evaluation of results
• Coordinating with consultants and vendors on project deliverables
• Lead IT Support activities for one or more business areas
• Follow the Change Management and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) policies and procedures during the course of the work

What you need to be successful in this role:

Talented Computer Science Engineer or Electrical Power Systems motivated to contribute to the IT solutions that provide value to our Business users

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
• Market Systems Experience within the electric utility industry or Programming experience in Electric Utility Industry
• Working knowledge of bulk power system operations and energy market operations
• Working experience in Oracle, SQL, Postgres, PL/SQL development and Microsoft SQL server
• Expertise in Java or Microsoft .Net and associated technologies such as J2EE/Web Technologies, Spring boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate, Apache Struts, Microsoft Web frameworks, XML, JMS, Apache ActiveMQ, Apache Ant, Apache Camel etc.
• Hands on work experience with Kubernetes, DevOps, GitOps, Docker technologies and AWS
• Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a Team Lead
• Demonstrated experience dealing with challenging situations and communicating different problems to a wider audience
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation
