Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

The System Engineer II reports to the Manager, Infrastructure Integrations. The primary focus of this position is to administer the systems owned by the Infrastructure Integrations team and ensuring users have access and training. The position will also work closely with business partners to ensure their integration needs are met. The System Engineer II takes a lead role to maximize our investment in a very large and complex system instances.

Job Description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Perform system administration, configuration, and support for Infrastructure Integrations systems.

Manage and perform all Infrastructure Integrations systems deployments.

Work closely with the vendors of Infrastructure Integrations systems to resolve system issues.

Resolve any Infrastructure Integrations systems issues submitted into WGU's ticketing systems.

Work with vendors to ensure all upgrades and feature updates are tested and vetted in lower environments prior to deploying to production.

Ensure all production deployments by the vendor are completed within specified maintenance windows

Will be subject matter expert on all things related to specific Infrastructure Integrations systems.

Maintain data integrity in all Infrastructure Integrations systems locations and licenses

Create and maintain documentation for the Infrastructure Integrations systems infrastructure systems, policies and procedures.

Create excellent relationships with business units and Edtech teams

Interact appropriately with teams and products that interact with Infrastructure Integrations systems

Participate in and serve as a resource for any Infrastructure Integrations systems related projects.

Know when to use the right solutions and automations to solve business problems.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Subject matter expert in the area of responsibility or working knowledge of several technical areas.
  • Typically requires a technical university degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Advanced degrees (Master's or PhD) may be required for certain disciplines and reduce the experience requirement by 2-4 years. Industry-relevant experience.

Department Specific Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience as a systems administrator.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Assist management with vetting, selecting and implementing new Infrastructure Integrations systems related technology solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • System administration experience a strong plus.
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Working experience with one or more of the following Infrastructure Integrations systems:
    • Onbase and related architecture
    • Engageware
    • Jira
    • Confluence
    • Bitly

The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Pay Range: $87,200.00 - $130,800.00
