Job Description:

SUMMARY

Under general supervision, responsible for fulfilling multiple tasks on any given day within the Closure Department, including but not limited to: the proper operation, adjustments, minor repairs, lubrications, preventive maintenance, and changeovers required on production equipment. Operators are expected to maintain established production and quality levels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Follows established policies and procedures as established by the company, including safety procedures.

* Safely operates equipment.* Prepares and loads raw materials, as required by production equipment.* Utilizes basic hand tools (pliers, wrench, screwdriver, knife, etc.) to perform machine adjustments, minor repairs and preventative maintenance.

* Monitors product quality throughout the production run and make adjustments based upon the quality inspections.

* Packages, seals, and labels finished product as required.

* Palletizes product as required.

* Completes routine "housekeeping" duties throughout the shift and at other times as assigned.

* Accurately completes required paperwork to document quality checks, machine changeovers, production run quantities, daily production accomplishments, machine downtime, labor hour reporting, and other reporting as needed.

* Utilizes a computer for production reporting, downtime tracking, quality checks, or other duties as required.

* Trains other employees as required.

* Works as part of a team as required

* Observes recycling guidelines and limits waste of materials and supplies.

* Performs other tasks as appropriate to support fellow employees in a team environment.

* Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.

* Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently lift and move up to 37 pounds.* Required to work any shift.* Required to comply with company GMP policies.

* Communicated ideas clearly and articulately.

* Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

* Skilled in writing simple correspondence.

* Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* One year of manufacturing experience or training.

Operator Classifications

Operators are able to progress to higher levels by gaining additional skills and experiences. In order to remain at a particular level, operators must continue to demonstrate and maintain the skill requirements for the level. To progress to the next level, an operator must have no written reprimand for the prior six (6) months and no final/second written reprimand or disciplinary suspension for the prior twelve (12) months. The time periods are based upon the eligibility date. An operator is eligible to progress to the next level when all requirements for that level have been met.

Starting Operator* Exhibit the company vision, mission, and values.* Display the importance of safety and quality.

* Learn the fundamental plant operations and procedures.

* Learn and utilize the established communication procedures.

* Maintain the established production and quality levels.

* Successfully trained in the 5S principles.

Operator

* Completed one (1) year at the Starting Operator classification.

* 5 years manufacturing experience (external applicants only).

* Qualified in a minimum of one (1) production area, as determined by the Company.

* Maintain established production and quality levels.*

* Successfully completed the Working Together course.

* Recommended for level by Production Team Leader/Manager, as documented on the Evaluation Form.

Skilled Operator

* Completed one (1) year at the Operator classification.

* Qualified in a minimum of two (2) production areas, as determined by the Company.

* Maintain established production and quality levels.*

* Successfully completed the SPC course.

* Recommended for level by Production Supervisor, as documented on the Evaluation Form.

Advanced Operator

* One (1) year completed at the Skilled Operator classification.

* Qualified in a minimum of three (3) production areas, as determined by the Company.

* Maintain established production and quality levels.*

* Successfully completed the Effective Trainer course.

* Recommended for level by Production Supervisor, as documented on the Evaluation Form.

For upgrade purposes, employees will be monitored for a specific thirty day evaluation period, as determined by the Company, where they must meet or exceed the established production and quality standards. If an employee fails to meet the production standard, based upon an average from the evaluation period, they will not be eligible for the upgrade. If an employee fails to meet the quality standard, based upon product holds from the evaluation period, they will not be eligible for the upgrade.

An employee's qualification for a production area shall be documented on the Process Area Qualification form and is defined as follows:

* Reviewed all safety training pertinent to production area.

* Reviewed all hazardous material training pertinent to production area.* Reviewed all Standard Operating Procedures and/or PM's pertinent to production area.* Successfully completed on-the-job training as demonstrated to and verified by the trainer and Production Supervisor.

* Proficiency in all Standard Operating Procedures and/or PM's as demonstrated to and verified by the Production Supervisor.

* Ability to regularly meet established production and quality levels.

* To maintain qualification in a production area, the employee must have worked in the production area for a minimum of two (2) weeks within the prior six (8) month period.
