JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The CSL Behring Fermentation Facility (CBFF) seeks applications for a Core Research Technologist. CBFF is one of eleven core laboratories of the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences and houses various capabilities ranging from fermentation (flask - 500L), downstream processing, protein purification, to analytical. All work performed in the facility is of BSL-1 nature.

Responsibilities: Following are the key responsibilities of this position:

  • Supporting the facility's laboratory efforts through setting up equipment, training students and researchers, operating/maintaining advanced equipment and general facility upkeep.
  • Execute fermentation experiments using bioreactors to develop fermentation processes to produce microbial metabolites/biomass
  • Administrative support for the fermentation facility that includes project planning, billing, accounting, and management/organization of facility tasks.
  • Working with student employees to accomplish the day-to-day tasks in the facility.
  • Working with faculty and staff to organize and execute industrial training/educational workshops with the fermentation facility.

Based on their experience, the individual may also be involved in the following as required:

  • Consulting with various researchers (graduate students, faculty, external academic or industry researchers) on technical topics and research methods and approaches, to ensure a match between the facility's capabilities and their project objectives.
  • Evaluating opportunities to support the facility's equipment acquisition and independent research through relevant grants and seed grant opportunities to provide funding for these activities.

Education and Experience: This position will be filled at an Intermediate professional level and requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and 1+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
