Position Purpose
Under the direction of the Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations, proactively manages a portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects, develops strategies, and cultivates relationships that lead to proposals for significant corporate and foundation gifts and grants in support of institutional priorities and research by faculty, centers, and institutes, with a focus on scientific research in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics ( STEM). Collaborates with faculty, senior administrators, and other offices (Technology Transfer, Grant GPS, Geisel|DH CFR) to identify and pursue corporate and foundation opportunities and advocates Dartmouth's key strengths to corporate and foundation communities. Secures and stewards foundation and corporate awards in support of the College and supports the goals of the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations.

* Bachelor's degree required
* Seven-plus years of fundraising, with an emphasis on supporting research projects in the sciences and/or engineering, in a complex development organization, preferably in foundation and/or corporate relations or the equivalent.
* Ability to work with and command the respect of faculty, senior administrators, Trustees and other high-level volunteers
* Strong project management skills. Ability to prioritize own work in response to multiple requests from individuals and departments
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Strong interpersonal skills

Description
Manages portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects through proactive approaches to qualification, cultivation, solicitation/proposal submission, and stewardship. Develops and implements comprehensive cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for approximately 30-50 key corporate and foundation prospects and ensures long-term institutional relationships. Takes an active approach to securing substantive contact with organizational funders, independently and/or with faculty and administrators. As appropriate, coordinates and staffs campus visits by current and potential corporate and foundation and related donors. Creates project descriptions, case statements, briefings, profiles, and other materials to support corporate and foundation approaches, cultivation, and stewardship. Responds quickly and effectively to strategic opportunities for increased corporate and foundation engagement.

Description
Works both independently and in concert with the Director, senior officers, Trustees, faculty, and other colleagues and volunteers to implement strategies including direct solicitation of corporate and foundation grants and gifts, ranging primarily from $100,000 to $3 million. Partners with Director and colleagues across the Advancement division to help identify and develop strategies for corporate and foundation prospects that highlight Dartmouth's goals and key areas of opportunity, with a focus on scientific research across STEM disciplines. Develops, writes, and submits email inquiries, letters of inquiry, formal proposals and/or other requests for corporate and foundation engagement and/or support independently or in collaboration with the faculty, the Director, senior officers, and other development colleagues. Helps advise the Director on prospect management issues, challenges and opportunities that affect the division's effectiveness.

Description
Secures meetings with faculty and administrators to foster project and program design and facilitate the development of corporate and foundation relations approaches. Establishes and maintains relationships with stakeholders who may be helpful in identifying and securing institutional support. Forms strong working relationships with professional school staff and development peers in Leadership Giving, Principal Giving and elsewhere to help develop strategies and ensure coordination of activities on shared prospects in order to maximize corporate and foundation opportunities for the institution. Collaborates with development peers across the institution on matters related to prospects with corporate and foundation and institutional giving ties.

Works in conjunction with the Director and colleagues to establish performance goals in assigned development areas; monitors progress against goals and devises strategies to ensure success in meeting goals. With a focus on scientific research in the STEM fields, develops, and maintains a working knowledge of the College's key strengths and areas of opportunity for fundraising; gains knowledge of faculty research interests and areas of expertise; serves as a resource to faculty, helping to devise and implement fundraising strategies for corporate and foundation grants and gifts. Maintains knowledge of corporate and foundation and development trends and institutional initiatives that may be potential sources of support for Dartmouth faculty and programs. Ensures appropriate recognition and stewardship of corporate and foundation donors; partners with donor relations officers to determine nature of stewardship action(s) required and ensure timely completion. Partners with Development Research to evaluate and qualify corporate and foundation prospects and works independently or with faculty to make outreach to corporate and foundation sources, including contact via email, phone, meetings, and/or by submitting a letter of inquiry or proposal, as appropriate. Participates in long-range planning for assigned area(s) and for the Department of Corporate and Foundation Relations. Partners with Director to evaluate department and campus procedures in the corporate and foundation relations arena; recommends and implements changes to increase productivity and efficiency. Attends appropriate college events, programs, and meetings.
