Job Summary |
We are seeking a motivated undergraduate student to assist a graduate student and faculty member in researching tourism resiliency along Alabama's Gulf Coast. The project aims to explore the historical and future impacts of environmental conditions, including climate change, on the region's tourism industry. The research assistant will play an integral role in achieving the project's objectives and will gain hands-on experience in literature reviews, data gathering & analysis, and potentially be involved with stakeholder interviews. Some in-person, on-campus meetings are required, and some work can be completed remotely at a time and place of the research assistant's choosing. Based on performance and availability, the undergraduate research assistant will also have opportunities to share the research at professional conferences.

Essential Functions |
- Assist with comprehensive literature reviews on tourism and climate change
- Assist in analyzing historical weather data and visitation statistics.
- Help compile and analyze climate projections and their potential impacts on tourism.
- Assist in scheduling & conducting semi-structured interviews with tourism providers in the Gulf Coast region.
- Organize and manage data, including visualizations and summaries.
- Collaborate with the team to document research findings.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Current Auburn University undergraduate student.
- Interest in tourism resiliency and climate change.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing time effectively.
- Ability to commit 15 to 20 hours per week to project tasks.
- Interest in or prior experience with Alabama/Gulf Coast tourism is preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to travel to the Alabama coast if needed.
