Location: Lenexa, KS

Job Summary and Purpose:

The Engineering Project Manager role requires an individual who is organized, thoughtful, energetic, and entrepreneurial. This position will be managing projects that include construction and renovation of facilities, design and installation of equipment, and optimization of manufacturing processes. This role will manage projects ranging from $20K to $5M and is accountable for ensuring projects stay within the original approved budget and delivery times.

This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering, Maintenance, and Utilities.

Responsibilities and Key Duties:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

* Review project requests and collect additional information from requestor as needed.

* Perform design and development engineering to ensure validity of project need and executability.

* Develop URS documents for capital equipment as needed.

* Ensure projects are initiated and approved per engineering and procurement procedures.

* Develop and maintain project schedule to ensure time project execution.

* Work with Production, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and external contractors to manage schedule conflicts.

* Manage project team members and provide support where needed with project execution.

* Apply Lean Concepts to optimizing manufacturing processes.

* Participate in daily startup and status meetings during project execution.

* Ensure all projects are properly completed through to the financial closing process.

PLANNING AND BUDGET MONITORING

* Manage and update status of all projects at scheduled intervals.

* Ensure project forecasts are entered and updated to meet financial reporting requirements

* Review status of each project and ensure time, budget and scope are being managed effectively and efficiently.

* Provide monthly management reports on the status of all projects.

* Ensure Work-In-Progress Audits are completed in a timely manner.

SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT

* Ensure timely equipment access (spare parts)

* Participate in routine construction and contractor meetings.

* Validate technical proposals

* Serve as a stakeholder on the supplier committee, using experience and judgment to make decisions that affect projects.

* Utilize competitive bidding and selection process according to procurement policies.

Technical / Functional Competencies:

* Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, both inside and outside the organization.

* Self-starter who is positive and professional

* Experience with common business and engineering software platforms.

* Experience with Auto Cad software and file management.

* Set the example when leading and following safety/security policies and procedures

Qualifications:

* Education - Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. Extensive equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

* Work Experience - 5 or more years of experience as a Project Manager for capital projects within a regulated industry.

* Working knowledge of CAD systems and document organization.

* Experience with Smartsheet software preferred.

Physical Requirements:

* Able to read, write legibly and communicate in English.

* Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.

* Visual inspection

* Lifting up to 50 lbs

* Able to work in spaces which require fall protection.

* Able to climb stairs, as needed.

Working Conditions:

* Ability to qualify to work in a clean room environment when needed.
