Job Summary

The Biomedical Technician I maintains clinical equipment through effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Program (MEMPs) and Denver Health business standards. Performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of a limited scope of biomedical equipment under the guidance and direct supervision of senior technicians. Follows instructions, policies, and core values of Denver Health and exhibits professionalism with integrity in all interactions with customers and staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs assigned duties in accordance with current policies and procedures, including, but not limited, scheduled maintenance, equipment inspection, installations, troubleshooting and repairs, adjustments, calibrations, and safety testing of less complex biomedical equipment such as, but not limited to infusion pumps, feeding pumps, hypo/hyperthermia units. (40%)
  • Perform basic administrative tasks associated with the position, including parts ordering and returns, email correspondence/customer interaction, and document all work performed in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). (30%)
  • Utilize resources available to include team collaboration, maintenance/service manuals, and technical support to complete assigned tasks, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance. (10%)
  • Attend training and schools as assigned or offered to keep up on skills and technologies to help support the institution. (10%)
  • Continuously improve customer relationship by driving customer satisfaction through excellent customer service an effective communication. (10%)

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology preferred.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years in a technical field and working with medical equipment required.

Licenses:

  • DLR-Colorado Driver's License Class R - DMV - Department of Motor Vehicles required.
  • CBET-Certified Biomedical Technician - AAMI - Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation preferred.

  • Ability to problem solve while dealing with high stress/pressure and non-high stress/pressure situations and manage customer problems.
  • Ability to work under supervision and independently to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Basic IT and networking knowledge.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications and basic programming - Preferred.
