Our Natural Gas Coordinator will work in a dynamic and high responsibility trading environment. You will have the opportunity to be in a visible position entailing considerable interaction with the front, middle and back office groups. You will collect economic and financial information specific to a commodity market, conduct market sector or statistical analysis, interpret key market data elements into useful business information, and execute trading strategies. The coordinator is expected to perform high level analytic work and modeling.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the implementation, and execution of competitive procurement and transportation strategies for natural gas.
  • Writes and issues solicitations for natural gas and natural gas transportation services, evaluates proposals and executes purchases.
  • Ensure trades are entered timely and gas is scheduled on pipelines accurately
  • Manage gas position with a forward-looking mindset
  • Works as an intermediary between AESI natural gas plants and natural gas pipelines, utilities, and suppliers to ensure reliability of fuel supply.
  • Available on evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to manage gas position.
  • Attend industry events as necessary
  • Assist with the validation of forward pricing, basis, and volatility curves.
  • Support market-based asset valuation studies, regional power market assessments, price, and volatility analyses.
  • Utilizes ETRM to validate commercial decisions and assists in modeling decisions to improve visibility and transparency for market changes impacting businesses.
  • Support data aggregation efforts each morning to implement approved day ahead trading strategies across the asset fleet
  • Validate short-term model output and leverage this for position management
  • Capture market opportunities based on real-time positions and analysis of market conditions
  • Leverages broad scope of knowledge when performing analysis on data sets.
  • Trains other individuals and teams to ensure accuracy and timeliness of information.
  • Conducts research including identifying data, data input, and statistical analysis of results and creates and maintains data analysis and reports.
  • Responds to internal requests from other functions for data and analysis.
  • Develop an understanding of MISO Day ahead and real time markets

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Business, and/or related field of study preferred. Equivalent experience within their discipline also considered.
  • 1-3 years of experience in energy trading, scheduling or experience as supporting front office/desk analyst
  • Knowledge of wholesale electricity and natural gas markets; trading background a plus.
  • Persistent with a natural curiosity about energy market fundamentals and technical details.
  • Displays well-rounded communication skills that implement good listening techniques, clear, concise writing style; and good verbal skills. The ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally.
  • Works well in a team environment, focusing on collaboration and adapting to the needs of a diverse team.
  • Adept at managing multiple tasks and adhering to regular deadlines. Able to adjust priorities throughout the day.
