Organizational Unit Overview
ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people.

ECU Health Central Business Office/ ECU Health ACAD Administration, ( CFS) is responsible for the clinical and administrative oversight of the group practice for ECU Health Physicians- ACAD. The practice is comprised of approximately 400 faculty physicians, 52 contracted providers and employs a diverse clinical support staff of more than 1,200 individuals, of which approximately 350 employees are working within revenue cycle operations. The practice provides approximately 550,000 outpatient, 155,000 emergency room and 126,000 inpatient services annually to nearly 160,000 patients. The Central Billing Office reports to both the Vice President of Revenue Cycle and the Medical Director of ECU Health to support key fiscal and operational components of the clinical practice and revenue cycle operations. These include direct management responsibility for staffing and operations in the centralized functions of the Central Billing Office ( CBO) and oversight for decentralized activities. Centralized functions include: Payor Contracting and Evaluation, Regulatory Compliance and Credentialing; Computer System and Procedure Training; Insurance and Patient Billing, Follow-up and Collections; Cash Management of Professional Fee Revenue; Business Intelligence Services such as Reporting and Analytics; Coordinated Patient Access Support; and Contact Center. Decentralized functions include: Registration, Referral Management, Pre-Service Financial Preparation; Service Identification and Reconciliation; Coding and Charge Entry; and Project Management and Process Improvement.
Job Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to support the Business Services Coordinator and the Administrative Assistant with managing the leaders and administrators for the Central Business Office, who are responsible for ECU Health Academic and ECU Health Community [ ECUHP- ACAD and ECUHP-Community] centralized and decentralized revenue cycle management functions in the administrative management of the division which employs more than 600 employees. The position serves as a backup to the Business Services Coordinator and the Administrative Assistant in executing all administrative functions of the Central Business Office within the ECU Health Revenue Cycle. This includes all duties performed by the Business Services Coordinator and the Administrative Assistant. Public contact is a major component of this position. This position is critical for fostering a collaborative environment through positive internal and external working relationships that reach beyond the boundaries of ECU Health to other entities or government agencies. In addition, the Admin Support Associate is responsible for the office supply component of the CBO budget. The Admin Support Associate is a critical member of the CBO administrative team and is expected to function with the highest degree of independence and minimum direction.

This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System ( TSERS).
