Join Our Team as an Total Rewards & Compensation Intern!

Are you passionate about total rewards? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our HR compensation function. As an Total Rewards & Compensation Intern, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.

The Total Rewards Intern supports the Global Total Rewards team in various administrative and analytical tasks related to compensation, benefits, and employee recognition programs. This role involves assisting with creating job descriptions, benchmarking compensation data, conducting data audits, preparing documentation, and performing other duties as assigned. The intern will gain exposure to the inner workings of a manufacturing company's Total Rewards strategy and contribute to ongoing projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with drafting and updating job descriptions across multiple departments.
  • Perform compensation benchmarking to ensure competitive pay practices, utilizing salary surveys and internal data.
  • Conduct audits of compensation, benefits, and other Total Rewards data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards.
  • Create and organize documentation related to Total Rewards programs and processes.
  • Support with data entry, reporting, and maintaining internal databases.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify process improvements and implement best practices.
  • Participate in special projects and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

Job Requirements ( To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):

  • Must be in good standing as a student at the bachelor's degree level at an accredited university majoring in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and returning to school after the work session.
  • Ability to commute and work onsite at S&C in Rogers Park, Chicago, IL
  • Ability to work full-time beginning Summer 2025 for a minimum of 10 weeks.
  • Experience in a Human Resources or related role. This experience could come from past work experience, co-op placements, or related settings.
  • Basic knowledge of compensation activities and terminology, including a basic understanding of salary structures and how jobs are slotted within them.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others effectively.
  • Good organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Basic problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address issues effectively.
  • Possess a positive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Good organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to complete activities with accuracy.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office tools (ie. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc).

Preferred:

  • Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
