The role of the Production Supervisor is to perform functions associated with our manufacturing operations and processes. This position will mostly work from schedules, shop orders, established procedures, and written and/or verbal instructions. This role reports directly to the Operations Manager and is based at VeloDyne’s Grain Valley, Missouri manufacturing facility. The Production Supervisor will be a reliable, hard-working and motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and dedication to a team environment. This position is directly responsible for managing the manufacturing team.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead, direct, and assign work to the manufacturing personnel.
  • Monitor orders to ensure they remain on time for set delivery dates, notifying Operations Manager, Purchasing Manager, and Customer Service as necessary when there are delays in delivery.
  • Work closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Shipping and Customer Service.
  • Assemble products in a safe and timely manner.
  • Responsible to implement labor and material savings through continuous improvement activities where applicable.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to reduce manufacturing times while maintaining quality products.
  • Maintain production cells with appropriate tools and hardware for manufacturing tasks.
  • Maintain work instructions and photo documentation of manufactured assemblies.
  • Measure, cut, and glue/thread plastic and metal plumbing.
  • Measure, drill, and tap holes according to specifications.
  • Fasten assemblies together using screws, nuts and bolts.
  • Wire complete systems following specific drawings.
  • Perform pressure tests on products with water and/or air.
  • Focus on product quality, have an eye for detail, and ensure product meets customer standards.
  • Work closely with engineering to identify opportunities and provide marked up drawings.
  • Issue requests to Purchasing for parts as needed for customer orders and for maintaining safety stock.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to establish adequate safety stock levels.
  • Crosstrain in other areas within the manufacturing facility.
  • Responsible for the education and training of new/existing employees on VeloDyne procedures for operations.
  • Act as liaison between manufacturing personnel and upper management in Operations Manager absence.
  • Uphold VeloDyne’s safety and compliance requirements and practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three to five years’ manufacturing experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to accurately perform shop math.
  • Read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Recognize and safely/properly use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
  • Computer skills that include proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel).
  • Maintain sexual harassment prevention training in accordance with company policy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and/or weekends as required from time to time.

Physical Demands         

  • Physical ability to perform work in a standing, stooping, sitting, or bending position for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, speak and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Must have manual dexterity to operate the equipment and tools required for this position.
  • Must be able to quickly respond (with the hand, finger or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
  • Must maintain clean and professional appearance while working with customers, vendors and colleagues.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • 100%  Medium/Heavy Industrial Fabrication & Assembly - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals and industrial facilities. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.

This position is non-exempt. The base hourly wage for this position is $40-$45. Compensation is dependent on skill level. Benefits package and incentives are provided.
